We Make It. We Own the Impact.

As we built Occo, we made conscious choices along the way that were driven by longevity and sustainability, even when it impacted our bottom line. Our approach sometimes costs us more, but it’s also designed to last.

Below are a few of the guiding principles that informed Occo’s development

  1. Single-use plastic has got to go

Occo is made of post-consumer aluminum, the most recycled and recyclable material in the world. More than 75% of the aluminum ever produced is still in use today. And when aluminum is recycled, it saves more than 90% of the energy that would have gone into mining virgin ore.

2. The climate is indisputably changing

Clear and compelling evidence supports the veracity of climate change, and so do we. Each Occo card includes the cost of carbon credits to offset the emissions associated with each card’s journey from the farm to your food.

3. Food waste is a quiet epidemic

40% of food sold in the U.S. is ultimately wasted, and the broad impact adds up fast. One of the simplest ways to mitigate that impact is to simply not waste to begin with. Occo was built around this purpose from day one.
